'What is a Clinical Nutritionist?' is one of the questions we get asked a lot,
and ...... ‘Is it meal planning?’
The short answer is no. Whilst there is occasionally some meal planning, it is so much more.
Clinical nutrition is an evidence-based holistic approach to treatments, using science-informed knowledge to treat chronic and acute health issues.
So, what does that all mean?!
We recognise that disease or dysfunction is complex, and usually caused by a number of factors. We use your symptoms like signposts, and together with a full nutritional assessment, pathology and functional testing, we put them all together like a complex jigsaw puzzle to determine the root cause(s) of what is going on……rather than just masking your symptoms and treating you with a ‘band-aid' approach.
A great example is acne; rather than simply treating the symptoms, we will look into hormone imbalances, gut dysbiosis & inflammation, lifestyle and stress factors (stress can have a greater impact than you may think), and possibly the most common cause of acne, we can test for any nutritional deficiencies.
This then allows us to develop a tailored treatment plan to treat the root cause(s) either by correcting nutritional deficiencies, healing the gut, implementing lifestyle changes, or correcting hormone imbalances.
As Health Science Degree Qualified healthcare professionals, we are recognised by private health insurance, and yes we can do meal plans……but so much more.
